BYD Cars Philippines shatters records with 8900% growth in 2024; Cements NEV and BEV leadership in the country
Revolutionizing the EV landscape, BYD drives the Philippines toward a brighter, greener future with 4,780 NEVs solidifying its market leadership through innovative and accessible electric mobility
Manila, Philippines, February 3, 2025 – BYD Cars Philippines and ACMobility, the official distributor of BYD passenger vehicles in the country, have achieved a groundbreaking milestone in the New Energy Vehicle (NEV) market. The Ayala mobility solutions platform sold 4,780 BYD passenger vehicles, commanding an 82% share in the Philippine NEV market for 2024.
Of these, 2,078 comprised the BYD Seagull, Dolphin, Atto 3, T3, Seal, Han, and Tang. With a 69% market share in the BEV segment, BYD leads the country in battery-electric vehicles sold in 2024.
The popular BYD Sealion 6 DM-i sold 2,669 units in 2024, making it the brand’s top-selling model. From July, when BYD Cars Philippines introduced it to the market, to December, it was also the best-selling model in the combined NEV and hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) segments, with a 19% market share.
The remarkable sales performance of its electric vehicle offerings propelled BYD’s overall growth by an astounding 8,900% in 2024 compared to 2023 sales. Strong sales confirmed BYD’s rank as the 11th best-selling automotive brand in the Philippines, with a 1.0% market share, even bettering several established big automotive players and other Chinese brands.
BYD also set another global sales record in 2024, complementing this impressive local achievement. Last year, BYD sold 4,272,145 New Energy Vehicles globally, up 41.26% from 2023. This milestone is the first time BYD has sold more than 4 million units in one year. The new sales record makes BYD the undisputed Global New Energy Vehicle Market Sales Champion.
“We are beyond thrilled to share our performance in 2024, marking a pivotal year for BYD in the Philippines,” said Bob Palanca, Managing Director of BYD Cars Philippines. “This achievement reflects the dedication of our team, the unwavering support of our dealer partners and suppliers, and most importantly, the trust of our valued customers. Together, we will continue driving the Philippines toward a smarter and greener future with innovative and accessible solutions.”
Top-Selling and Game-changing Models That Electrified 2024
BYD’s extraordinary success was electrified by its state-of-the-art lineup of electric vehicles. The brand’s best-selling model, the BYD Sealion 6 DM-i, also commanded a 14.6% share in the overall Compact-SUV market in 2024 and a 25.9% market share in the same segment from July to December last year.
BYD Cars Philippines also sold 1,062 units of the BYD Atto 3 subcompact crossover in 2024. The country’s top-selling BEV has taken a 35% market share in the segment as it provided Filipinos with a comfortable and reliable Blade Battery-powered electric mobility solution.
The BYD Seagull was the brand’s third-best-selling nameplate, with 411 units released to customers in 2024. Introduced in the Philippines only in September last year, the BYD Seagull had a 38% share of the BEV segment in the last quarter of 2024 while taking 14% of the overall BEV market for the whole year.
These impressive results highlight Filipinos’ increasing acceptance of electric vehicles, marking a significant step toward a brighter, greener future.
“Together with ACMobility, we are committed to providing more Filipinos with BYD’s global models that represent greener and smarter mobility solutions as we continue to build on this success in 2025 and beyond. We are focused on sustaining this momentum by delivering innovative and affordable models for our Filipino customers,” said Aiffy Liu, Country Head of BYD Philippines.
52 New Dealer Locations Approved To Bring BYD All Over The Philippines
Another key factor in BYD’s astonishing growth in the Philippines last year has been its rapid and extensive dealership expansion.
At the start of 2024, BYD had only two dealerships. Last year, it closed with 25 operational dealerships in various locations nationwide. Working tirelessly to introduce quality customer service to all corners of the country, BYD Cars Philippines has already green-lit 52 dealer locations to bring BYD electric vehicles and services to more areas in 2025.
With the brand’s ongoing nationwide BYD Tech Tour, which brings its groundbreaking and innovative lineup and electric vehicle technologies closer to the local communities of its core markets, and new model launches slated throughout 2025, it promises to be an even brighter year for the Global #1 New Energy Vehicle brand in the Philippines.
“The growing network of BYD dealerships and service centers and ACMobility’s expanding footprint of EV charging stations across the country are part of the dynamic ecosystem ACMobility envisions in supporting and encouraging the country’s transition towards electric mobility,” adds Palanca.
