CHINOY BUSINESSMAN KIDNAPPED AND KILLED
The news has broken out about the abduction of Chinese-Filipino businessman Anson Que, owner of Elison Steel, and his driver while they were eating at a seafood restaurant on Macapagal Ave. in Pasay City on March 29.
Unfortunately, the bodies of Que and his driver were found in Rodriguez, Rizal, even though, according to a report in the Philippine Star, the family had paid a ransom.
According to a post by my father, former journalist Ramon Tulfo on his Facebook page, the victim’s family paid approximately 160 million pesos for his freedom.
In the same post, it was also mentioned that Chinese Mainlanders were behind the crime.
P/Col. Elmer Ragay, Director of the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group, was briefly sacked from his position by the Philippine National Police due to the incident but was reinstated after consulting with the COMELEC, which stated that transferring officials was prohibited according to Comelec Resolution no.11059.
The PNP was mum about the incident before releasing a statement.
The latest kidnapping incident is a clear slapped in the face of PNP Chief Gen. Francisco Marbil! who before the incident lamented that posts on social media suggested that crime in the country was worsening, even though their data showed otherwise
Various business organizations in the country have expressed concern over the incident.
