GWM Delivers August Sales Growth as Technology and Localization Drive Global Momentum
BAODING, CHINA, September 1, 2026 — Great Wall Motor (GWM) announced its August 2026 sales results, reporting continued growth in both overseas and new energy vehicle sales. In August, with the help of its monthly sales of 113,396 vehicles, GWM’s global cumulative sales reached the 17-million-unit milestone. Overseas sales reached 62,517 units, up 38.42% year-on-year, while new energy vehicle (NEV) sales totaled 40,700 units, representing an 8.55% year-on-year increase. For the first eight months of 2026, GWM delivered 805,358 vehicles globally, up 1.98% year-on-year.

Against a backdrop of increasingly differentiated demand and intensifying competition in global automotive markets, GWM kept up its momentum in August, with overseas markets remaining a key growth driver. Behind the numbers, the company made significant strides in shifting from a “market entrant” to a “local insider” — rolling out new models, deepening market presence, validating performance through extreme motorsports, and hitting key customer milestones along the way. What’s taking shape is a broader product portfolio and sharper local insight — together paving the way for the next phase of global expansion.
Technology and products remain at the heart of GWM’s growth potential. Powered by its next-generation vehicle platform and core technologies such as GWM Hi4 intelligent four-wheel-drive hybrid technology, GWM continues to expand a diversified powertrain portfolio covering internal combustion engines, hybrids, plug-in hybrids and battery electric vehicles. This enables the company to respond more effectively to the different needs of markets around the world. At the 2026 Chengdu International Auto Show in August, GWM showcased products from six lineups, with the GWM H10, ORA 5 Sport, WEY V8X, and new TANK 300 among the key highlights. The expanding product portfolio is strengthening GWM’s global offering while reinforcing its technology credentials in intelligent mobility, new energy and off-road capability, creating fresh product momentum for future growth.
At the same time, globalization has become an increasingly important driver of GWM’s growth, while the meaning of globalization itself is evolving. At GIIAS 2026 in Jakarta on August 4, GWM presented the TANK 500 Diesel Black Warrior Edition, TANK 300 Diesel Desert Beige Edition and the local debut of the ORA 5, offering a broader product mix tailored to Southeast Asian market needs. The ORA 5 subsequently expanded into Chile and was also showcased through dedicated test-drive activities in Pakistan, attracting local automotive media, KOLs and potential customers. By continuously entering new markets, introducing products aligned with local needs, and building awareness through local consumers and opinion leaders, GWM is transforming globalization from simply exporting products into building a lasting local presence.

This localization capability is also becoming increasingly visible across other international markets. At South Africa’s Festival of Motoring, GWM introduced the TANK 500 Diesel and P 500 3.0T Diesel, bringing its multi-powertrain expertise to local consumers. In Australia, GWM welcomed its 250,000th customer and celebrated the milestone with a dedicated delivery ceremony for an ORA 5 owner. From product launches and customer engagement to market expansion and brand recognition, GWM is strengthening its connections with consumers around the world. The company’s growing overseas customer base is becoming an increasingly important reflection of its expanding global brand influence.

Continuous real-world validation further strengthens customer confidence in GWM’s products. On August 17, two TANK 300 Diesel race vehicles successfully completed the 2026 Asia Cross Country Rally (AXCR), one of the most demanding off-road endurance competitions in Asia. With its demanding conditions placing significant requirements on powertrain performance, durability and reliability, completing the full rally provided a strong demonstration of GWM’s diesel technology under extreme and high-intensity conditions. The experience also helps translate engineering validation from motorsport into greater confidence among global consumers. At the same time, GWM’s continued expansion of multi-powertrain products across different markets is enabling its technology advantages to serve an increasingly broad range of driving scenarios.

In August, GWM rolled out a range of overseas activities—from extreme motorsport events to customer test-drives and new model debuts—all feeding into stronger sales and sustainable long-term growth. Technology strengthens competitiveness, products broaden customer reach, global expansion opens up new market opportunities, and localization deepens long-term connections with consumers. The 38.42% year-on-year increase in overseas sales in August reflects the continued momentum generated by these combined capabilities.
Looking ahead, GWM’s next phase of globalization will be shaped by deeper localization rather than geographic expansion alone. By integrating its technologies, products and brands more closely with the needs of local markets, the company is creating a stronger and more sustainable platform for global growth.
With continued advances across multiple powertrain technologies, an increasingly diversified global product portfolio, and deeper local engagement in markets worldwide, GWM is strengthening its ability to compete and grow over the long term. Guided by a global development vision, a customer-centric approach to local market needs, and a commitment to building enduring customer relationships, GWM is transforming from a company that exports products to one that creates lasting value within the markets it serves.
