4,000 Crash Tests and Counting: GWM H7 Marks a New Safety Milestone for GWM

Recently, GWM’s Safety Laboratory reached a major milestone with the completion of its 4,000th vehicle crash test. As a key strategic model developed for global markets, the GWM H7 was selected for this symbolic test. More than a routine safety validation, the milestone reflects GWM’s long-term commitment to safety investment and its dedication to developing products that meet global standards.

The 4,000th Crash Test: Demonstrating Proven Safety Performance

In this milestone test, the GWM H7 demonstrated robust vehicle safety performance.

Following the collision, the passenger compartment maintained its structural integrity with no significant deformation, effectively preventing intrusion into occupant survival space. All doors remained operable, facilitating emergency rescue efforts and occupant evacuation after the impact.

At the same time, the vehicle’s restraint systems functioned as designed. The front airbags deployed properly, and the seatbelts provided effective protection. Rear child dummies remained securely positioned in their child safety seats, ensuring strong protection for all occupants.

After the crash, the fuel system remained intact with no leakage detected. The high-voltage electrical system automatically disconnected, eliminating fire risks. The hazard warning lights activated normally, alerting surrounding road users and helping reduce the risk of secondary accidents.

The test results demonstrated the GWM H7’s outstanding performance in body structure integrity, occupant protection, and post-collision safety management, highlighting the vehicle’s safety capabilities developed and validated for global markets.

Behind 4,000 Crash Tests: A Long-Term Commitment to Safety

The achievement of 4,000 crash tests reflects more than three decades of continuous investment in safety research and development.

GWM invested RMB 510 million to build its 57,000-square-meter Safety Laboratory. Featuring a self-developed “Five-Zone, Eight-Track” layout, the facility incorporates independently developed core equipment and testing capabilities, enabling a wide range of evaluations covering full-vehicle crash testing, restraint systems, structural safety, and integrated active-passive safety validation.

Within the laboratory, the latest generation of crash test dummies, valued at over RMB 100 million, collect detailed human injury data, while high-speed cameras capable of recording 4,000 frames per second capture every moment of impact. Combined with advanced testing equipment and digital simulation capabilities, the facility can recreate thousands of complex road scenarios and emergency conditions, providing strong support for vehicle safety development.

Safety is not achieved solely in the laboratory—it is built through sustained investment and relentless validation. For many years, GWM has adhered to its philosophy of making substantial long-term R&D investments, treating safety and reliability as non-negotiable foundations of product development. Through extensive real-world testing and rigorous validation, the company continuously raises its safety standards.

Built for Global Markets: The Safety Confidence Behind GWM H7

As an important SUV developed for global markets, the GWM H7 was engineered and validated to global standards from the very beginning of its development.

In terms of structural safety, the GWM H7 features a high-strength body design, optimized load paths, and reinforced key structural areas to enhance protection across a variety of collision scenarios. On the active safety front, the vehicle is equipped with a range of intelligent driver-assistance technologies, including Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, and Lane Keeping Assist, helping reduce the likelihood of accidents.

To address customer concerns regarding battery safety in new energy vehicles, GWM has established a comprehensive safety system covering the entire development, testing, and validation process. Through rigorous battery safety testing, the company further enhances vehicle performance under extreme conditions.

Safety has become one of GWM’s key strengths in global competition. In recent years, multiple GWM models have earned recognition from leading international safety assessment organizations, including ANCAP in Australia and Euro NCAP in Europe, demonstrating the company’s ability to meet the safety requirements of major global markets. The completion of the 4,000th crash test by the GWM H7 provides additional confidence as the vehicle expands into more overseas markets, while reinforcing GWM’s commitment to customer safety worldwide.

From the first crash test to the 4,000th, what has changed is the company’s ever-evolving technological capability; what remains unchanged is its respect for life and dedication to safety. Looking ahead, GWM will continue to develop products to global standards, earning customer trust through safety and quality, and delivering safer, more reliable mobility experiences for consumers around the world.
