MMDA VS. PNP, OVER THE TOP!

Gabriel Go, the head of the MMDA Special Operations Group-Strike Force, might have gone overboard and lost his cool during a confrontation with a police captain in Quezon City.

I’ve been following Go on YouTube for months, watching his clearing operations, and I can say he’s perfect for his position leading his group.

In enforcing road laws, where many are bold even when they’re wrong, it’s only right to appoint an official who won’t back down, so Go is perfect for the job. Most violators know they’re in the wrong but are still bold and furious.

In the incident with Go and the PNP-QCPD officer, the captain apologized for parking on the sidewalk and said he would pay the penalty, but Go didn’t calm down and said more things. Go was wrong. According to witnesses, the captain was already aggressive towards the enforcers who first approached the motorcycles on the sidewalk before Go arrived. The captain only calmed down when Go arrived, which is why Go reacted that way.

In my opinion, both the MMDA and PNP are law enforcers, and both Go and the captain were at fault. The MMDA had repeatedly told motorcycle owners not to park on the sidewalk.

They shouldn’t have blown up the issue because the violator was a “law enforcer.” Netizens said that even police officers should follow the law because they are law enforcers. Then they get mad when they’re called out?

Senator JV Ejercito also weighed in on the issue, mocking Go’s behavior. He even added a post about Go having a harassment case and questioned why Go is still working. Many politicians have graft cases but are still in position because they haven’t been proven guilty.

It’s tough doing your job when many people get mad. This is why the Philippines doesn’t progress because of this behavior. People will try to bring you down when you make a mistake. And what’s worse is that those mocking you are your fellow law enforcers.
