BYD Partners with Muntinlupa City to Electrify Local Police Fleet

BYD Cars Philippines delivered eight electric patrol vehicles to Muntinlupa City, expanding the brand’s partnerships with local government units to advance sustainable public service fleets

MUNTINLUPA CITY, Philippines– BYD Cars Philippines formally turned over eight electric vehicle (EV) patrol cars to the City Government of Muntinlupa, strengthening local police operations while advancing Mayor Ruffy Biazon’s green technology program for the city. The turnover reflects a growing partnership between BYD Cars Philippines and local government units across the country, as more municipalities look to electrify essential public services.

Officers of Muntinlupa City and Executives of BYD Cars Philippines led by Hon. Mayor Ruffy Biazon and Bob Palanca, Managing Director of BYD Cars Philippines at the Turnover Ceremony of the city’s newest addition to the police fleet.

All eight units of the BYD Dolphin have been assigned directly to the Muntinlupa Police Station, where they will be used for Philippine National Police (PNP) operations in Muntinlupa City. The electric vehicles will be supporting daily law enforcement activities and road patrols. Beyond boosting police visibility in the community, the vehicles are expected to deliver significant operational savings compared to traditional internal combustion engine patrol cars, with lower maintenance requirements, zero fuel costs, and greater day-to-day availability for officers on the ground.

Hon. Ruffy Biazon, Mayor of Muntinlupa City and BYD Cars Philippines Managing Director, Bob Palanca with Muntinlupa PNP force and BYD Alabang Dealer Principal, William Chiongbian

“The acquisition of the BYD Dolphins is a part of the long-term investment in clean energy that Muntinlupa has already committed to. With electric patrol cars, our police force can stay on the road longer without worry and gives them a more reliable way to serve our community,” said Mayor Ruffy Biazon of the City Government of Muntinlupa.

This shift to electric vehicles is a key milestone in Muntinlupa’s long-term sustainability roadmap and aligns with the city’s broader green transport initiatives. This forward-looking approach underscores the city’s commitment to electrified public mobility which is a vision that BYD Cars Philippines is proud to support as it partners with local government units nationwide.

“Muntinlupa’s decision to electrify its police fleet reflects the kind of forward-thinking leadership we hope to see in more local governments. At BYD Cars Philippines, we want to be a genuine partner to LGUs as they move toward cleaner, more cost-efficient public service fleets, and this is a strong example of what that partnership looks like in practice,” said Bob Palanca, Managing Director, BYD Cars Philippines.

The Muntinlupa vehicle turnover adds to a growing list of fleet partnerships between BYD Cars Philippines and government agencies, part of a broader push to make electric mobility a practical, cost-effective option for public service fleets across the Philippines. As more LGUs weigh the long-term economics of electrification against the day-to-day demands of frontline services like policing, BYD Cars Philippines continue to position themselves as partners equipped to support that transition.
